The European Commission is promoting dhp technology’s European market entry with the solar folding roof for use in wastewater treatment plants. As part of a detailed market study, dhp technology, together with the consulting company Evolution Europe, examined the needs of sewage treatment plants in Europe and identified the application potential for the solar folding roof. The results show a great demand for technologies that increase the level of self-sufficiency in wastewater treatment plants. Under the European Wastewater Directive, over 36 billion euros have been invested in the construction or retrofitting of wastewater infrastructure in the EU over the past 7 years. As a result, the electricity consumption of this industry has increased significantly and is to be partially compensated for through efficiency measures and the in-house production of energy.
With the double use of the open clarifier areas, the solar folding roof enables an increase in self-sufficiency with solar power by an average of approx. 50%. In addition, the solar folding roof is perfectly suitable for interaction with the mostly existing CHP.
